    Tormore : Timeless Elegance

    Mathieu Aliche
    Sunday - 15:00-16:00

The first new Speyside distillery in the 20th century was built with a specific vision of how whisky could be made. You can see in the design of Tormore Distillery, built in 1959, a forward-thinking and optimistic approach to whisky making: distillery equipment housed in beautiful buildings alongside cottages for workers, landscaped gardens, and spaces for public celebrations. Through this tasting you’ll explore the characteristic fruit-filled style of whisky that Tormore produced, how it has developed through the decades, and how it is moving forward now under the stewardship of Elixir Distillers. Tormore started distilling in 1959, and was designed to produce a fruity and elegant single malt whisky. At the time the market for single malts was a fraction of its modern scale but the ambition was clear from the beginning and early distillery records show Tormore’s liquid being praised for its potential to age and to be enjoyed as a single malt. Despite this, for over sixty years it was quietly producing whisky, mostly for blending, with only occasional official single malt releases. New owners Elixir Distillers acquired the distillery and significant stocks in 2022 and have been patiently working to bring Tormore back into the spotlight. This year marks the launch of a new core range. Join Mathieu Aliche to go into the history of this unique distillery and what the future holds for Tormore. You’ll taste six whiskies from Tormore's past, present and future: a vintage single malt from the 20th century, whiskies that showcase the current house style, and cask samples that show the way ahead.

    Tormore 12 years old 46%
    Tormore 2012 Legacy Cask 53.1%
    Tormore 2009 Legacy Cask 47.4%

Tormore 1999 23 Years Old - The Single Malts of Scotland – 54.5%
